Next-generation antibiotic discovered?

SciAm says Nature says a totally new microbug isolate has, in pre-clinical laboratory trials, bested vancomycin, now our species last line of defense against emergent resistant strains like the lethal burger bug E. coli O157. "Platensimycin," the little darling is called. Cross your fingers and hope it makes it through trials. I have a good feeling about this one. It's source seems so like the archetypal and original antibiotic, penicillin. Or so my meager microbial intuition tells me. I guess I should go read the editorial in Nature before blabbering...but I can't help it. This blog not to be construed as investment advice, emotional or otherwise. Forward looking statements, blah blah.
