There is no Iraq

Isn't it time we start referring to that place over there as "former Iraq," "American occupied Arabia" or as anything else that actually makes sense?

I read somewhere -- obviously not the place I was just quoting -- that while the Kurds see themselves as members of a Kurdistan, even if no one else seems them that way, both the Sunnis and Shi'ites see themselves as Iraqis. More problematically, they both see their groups as the rightful leaders of Iraq. Shi'ites have paid their dues as victims. Sunnis see the state of Iraq as a Sunni birthright, and many deny that Shi'ites are the majority.

In other words, it's all lovely.
